Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to much fanfare on the 7th of September, 2016.

The iPhone 7 boasts of some neat new features such as better cameras, faster processors, two new color options and water resistance. On a closer look you will see that while Apple is playing catch up with Android with some of these features, some features are truly path-breaking and exciting.

For example, the iPhone Home button has been a cause for concern among users for far too long now. The iPhone 7 comes with an interesting substitute for the home button that in fact is not a button at all. Leveraging the Taptic technology that the iPhone 6s first deployed, the button instead of physically moving down when pressed, instead tricks your finger into believing that it has moved down. Neat, indeed!

The iPhone 7 comes with iOS 10.0.1 upgradable to iOS 10.1.

iOS 10.1 too has many exciting features that deliver a smooth experience on the iPhone 7. One of the most visible and talked about change is the approach towards the lock screen with interactive notifications that have deep integration into apps. “Pick up to unlock” is another feature towards making the user experience smoother.

How to Record a Phone Call on iPhone 7

Despite the exciting new features in the iPhone 7 and iOS 10.1, if you are looking to learn how to record a phone call on iPhone 7, there isn’t much they have to offer.

Apple has stubbornly stayed away from shipping any native capabilities to allow users to record phone calls. This is due to legal considerations which are as disparate as there are jurisdictions in the world. Different states in the United States and for that matter, different countries around the world have different rules regarding recording phone calls.

With regards to recording phone calls, the iPhone 7 is no different from its predecessors. The iOS 10.0.1 or the iOS 10.0 on which the iPhone 7 runs doesn’t have any native capability to record phone calls. This, in turn, means that you are unlikely to find an app that can achieve this for you natively and hence reliably and with quality.

You may ask, how to record a phone call on iPhone 7 then?

To put it very simply, a call recording app like those available for Android has access to the sound stream during a call which they can record and save for you. iOS does not provide such access to apps made for iPhones.

The best way to record a call on iPhone 7 then is to use a cloud telephony service that routes your call through it and records it for you.

Whoa! That sounds a little scary, doesn’t it? But the truth is, it’s as easy as making a regular phone call using your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. You can rest assured knowing that the quality of the recording will be exactly the same as the call, since essentially the call is being routed through the service.

There are several such services out there that can achieve that for you. Some of these services have an iPhone app that takes this approach to recording calls, while some are web-based.

One such web-based service to record phone calls is our service, Recordator. The following guide explains how to record your phone calls using Recordator.com

    Worked like a charm. Thanks!

I installed an app to record phone calls on my iPhone 7. But it kept crashing and saying that I need to upgrade my iOS. I had to finally uninstall it and look for other options. What iOS versions is your software compatible with?

    • Josh Brown

Samantha, our software will work on any version of the iOS your iPhone 7 is running on. To use our service, you do not need to install any app on your iPhone 7. Hence OS compatibility is absolutely not a concern. In fact you can use our service using an iPhone 6, an Android phone or even a landline phone.

  • Keith Johnson

    Hi there,
I need to record my conference calls that require a pass code to enter. I have two questions:
    1. How can I use my pass codes to enter the conference calls when using your app?
    2. What is the quality of recordings generated?
    Thanks,
    Keith.

    • Josh Brown

      Hi Keith,
      1. In order to record your conference calls, you can follow these steps:
      a. First sign up for an account with Recordator.com and make sure you have enough recording minutes.
      b. Place a call to our toll-free number – +1-888-829-2045
      c. Place this call on hold and connect to your conference call. At this point you can enter your pass code to connect to your conference call.
      d. When the call connects, merge both calls. On one line you are connected to our recording system, which will record everything in this merged call. You can listen to this recording in your Recordator.com account.

      2. To answer your second question, the quality of recordings will be the same as the quality of audio in your conference call.
I hope this answers your questions satisfactorily.
      Thanks,
      Josh.
